EBC International TEFL Certificate Course

Job placement page content
[Introduction] [How job placement assistance works] [Jobs in Madrid] [Jobs around the world]

Introduction

All services mentioned on this page are
lifetime to all EBC course graduates.

Job preparation workshops

As part of the course you will participate in 2 job workshops that will prepare you for work. You'll learn how the job market works and most importantly learn the right questions to ask at interviews.

The workshops deal with the following key areas:

  • The job market;
  • Working conditions (rates, hours, how you get paid etc.);
  • What to ask/say at the interview;
  • What to expect when you are teaching;
  • Other important information you'll need to pass an interview.

CV/resume distribution

On the last day of the course, EBC sends your professionally formatted CV/resume to over 180 language schools in Madrid along with an official, PERSONALISED letter of introduction from EBC stating that you are now an EBC graduate.

Job offers

You will receive phone calls or emails from language schools asking you to come in for interviews which will result in jobs. The language schools call you, you don't have to go looking for work.

How long does it take to get contacted?

For work in Madrid, anywhere from between an hour (yes we are serious about this) to a couple of days of your CV/resume being sent out. If it takes longer than this, you may have mistyped your phone number or email on your CV/resume.

Can you find work for me in other places?

Of course but please bear in mind that it will take a little longer to get working if you choose an area outside of Madrid. How much longer depends on where you choose, but EBC will help you throughout the process, and you will get work.

How job placement assistance works

We provide you with a professional online CV/resume template that is designed for market requirements. You fill out the template via the Student Zone (we will assist and give advice if you need it) and save it.

On the last day of the course your CV/resume will be sent out to over 180 language schools in Madrid.

You will also get access to our Student Zone database of over 800 schools throughout the world allowing you to apply for jobs from any internet terminal in the world.

Your job help continues after the course too. If you need advice or assistance, you just need to contact EBC and we will help. We'll advise on other countries and send your CV to the cities of your choice whenever you ask.

You will never be a number to EBC. Once you've joined one of our courses, you've joined the ever-growing family of satisfied and highly employable EBC graduates.

EBC will not provide assistance for working in countries that EBC considers to be dangerous.

EBC believes that you should not have to knock on doors looking for jobs.

At EBC our belief is that if you train with us you should get a job with us. Our sister company is EBC y Asociados Idiomas, a Madrid based EFL school. This means that there is a good chance that you will get hired (subject to availability) as soon as you graduate and get to work for some of its high-powered clientele.

As with all good companies we have contingency measures should EBC y Asociados Idiomas not have work immediately available. We are also a supplier of TEFL Certified teachers to 180 language organisations in Madrid. The list includes internationally recognised companies.

EBC sends your pre- formatted CV/resume to
our long list of tried and trusted language schools.

We tell the schools about the course, your lesson planning skills, study hours, teaching practice classes to non English speaking students, peer classes, feedback, etc. everything that you learned on the course, everything that will make any language school want to interview you for teaching positions.

EBC sends your pre formatted CV/resume to each language school along with an official, PERSONALISED cover letter from EBC stating that you are now an EBC graduate.

The cover letter has been requested by the EFL schools so that they know your application comes from us and that you trained with us. It helps them sort out the "off-the-street" applications from serious job placement applications.

We manage the process on your behalf so you don't have to waste shoe leather pounding the streets knocking on doors. As you can see, we go that extra mile to open the doors to jobs for you. After that the rest is up to you at the interview. You aren't left entirely on your own regarding interviews as our job workshop training explains what you should and should not do when interviewing for TEFL positions in Spanish EFL companies.

Isn't all of this better than having to go around knocking on doors like a vacuum cleaner salesman using a list of schools you've been given?

Jobs in Madrid

In Madrid it is extremely easy to find work
if you have a recognised certificate.

  • Madrid has the greatest demand for native English teachers in the whole of Spain.
  • The UK and Ireland are the only countries in the European Union (EU) where English is the mother tongue. There aren't enough native English teachers in Spain, which is why 60% of the people that take our course are NOT from the EU.
  • 95% of language schools in Madrid don't care if a prospective teacher has a work permit.
  • EBC is always being asked for teachers by language schools as early as the first week of a new course.
  • All EBC graduates, EU and non-EU, are usually working within a week of finishing the course at full market rates (14 to 18 Euros per hour).

Attention US students: EBC's lifetime job placement assistance programme works with a prestigious academy in Madrid that will apply for the work permit of all American teachers they hire from EBC.

FICTION: It is very hard to find work in Spain if you are not from the European Union.

FACT: This is not true. If you take the advice of the non-experts that make these statements, you will miss out on a once in a lifetime chance to study/work in Spain.

How do we know this? EBC gets calls from many language schools in Madrid asking for teachers, EU or non-EU, and they are hired immediately and paid the same rates.

To use the USA as an example: So far, we've had 326 American students take the course in Madrid. They ALL found work after the course, as did all the Australians, Canadians and New Zealanders that also studied with EBC.

This is the reality of the current work situation in Madrid.

NOTE: The rates we state here are standard rates, some schools may pay more, others may pay less. EBC does not recommend accepting work below these rates unless the school is offering other incentives that make the job offer attractive.

Jobs around the world

EBC believes in helping you get a job regardless of where you are.

In addition to an extremely efficient and unrivalled job placement programme in Madrid, you will also get access to our web based list of TEFL schools around the world so you can instantly apply for jobs anywhere.

We'll help you get work in Madrid, Spain, Europe, South America or the rest of the world as long as the country you choose is not on the US State Department's Travel Advisory list.

EBC believes that getting a TEFL job is not a matter of knocking on doors or using shot-gun CV/resume mailing strategies hoping that someone will hire you. We want to really help you, our future graduates, get a job. We are in the process of establishing relationships with ESL schools around the world. Our relationship management is ongoing and aims to establish relationships with ESL schools in most non-English speaking countries that require good EFL teachers.

The objective of establishing relationships is to help your application get to the top of the list.
